This is a fully matted and framed copy of George Morland's "A Party Angling"
George Morland was one of the most successful genre painters of his time, creating, during his industrious career, some of England's most cherished paintings. At an early age Morland displayed his artistic genius. He learned to paint at three and exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy at the mere age of ten. A prodigious painter, he produced more than 4000 paintings, and sometimes creating two or three works in a day. His beautiful, idealistic scenes were a favorite source of inspiration for contemporary engravers, and as many as 250 separate engravings were done of his paintings during his lifetime.

During the eighteenth century, punt fishing became a very fashionable sport. Gentlemen and ladies gathered in droves to enjoy this popular outdoor pursuit. Morland was so struck with the charm of this pastime that he quickly rendered it on canvas, thus creating two of his most cherished paintings. The two fashionable ladies pictured in the paintings are the wives of Morland and and his brother-in-law, William Ward. The gentlemen are John Raphael Smith and William Ward.

Every year I sell the Christmas card designs I have sent out in years past. This year, I have two designs I will be printing up for sale. Both can be seen by following the link below. They are 5.5" x 4.25" and fit in a standard invitation envelope (4 3/8" x 5 3/4"). I print them on 110# white card stock through a professional printer from 600 dpi source files (not on a printer at home). I will send out the final batch for printing the weekend of 4-6 December and will have them mailed out by the 8th.

As stated on the site, the cards are $1 each and I take minimum orders of 10 cards with $5 shipping. I will waive shipping and deliver to most Athens areas for an order of 50 cards. In addition, I will paste in a scan of your signature and mail them out to your address list for an additional $1 each.
