I'm very interested in finding an arrangement as a live-in housekeeper with somebody who could use just that. I'm an extremely friendly person, a pretty good cook, and do a fine job keeping a clean house. I'd be glad to exchange some of my time for somewhere to live, in or around Athens. I have no problem doing laundry, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning dishes, raking leaves, cleaning bathrooms, toilets and tubs, vacuuming, and just staying caught up with everything in general. I'm also pretty handy, and am pretty good at fixing things up that need fixing. I don't know if I'd make a great babysitter, as I've never actually done that, but I'm not opposed to the idea of keeping an eye on the kids from time to time too if ya need.
I've never been in an official housekeeping-role before, where it was in exchange for some sort of compensation, but I've lived on my own for quite some time, and I grew up with parents who some would have considered to have a form of OCD, so I grew up cleaning and enjoy it.
I could easily produce a list of references, as most anyone who has ever met me would quickly vouch for my trust-worthiness and friendliness.
Each situation will be different, from what you're looking for to what fair compensation would be. Ideally, I'll just find a situation where it's an even exchange of domestic-housework for free housing. But we can iron out the details of the arrangement if you're interested.
So a little about me. I worked for a film studio over in Portland for a couple years prior to moving here. I moved here because my boyfriend lives here and we got tired of doing the distance thing ;) But don't worry, he won't be a squatter in the place, but he is a super nice, friendly guy so I promise he wouldn't drive you crazy. I have both a really outgoing side and a really quite, keep to myself side and at home I'm just as happy reading a book in my room as I am hanging out and hosting fun theme parties. I'm not a 'partier' in the college sense of the word. I really like hosting people, doing fun gatherings and movie nights etc. . .but am not into parties that are simply an excuse for people to come over and trash the place while they themselves get trashed. Just not my thing. I like to keep things clean and have a really relaxing and cozy place to come home to after a nice day of work. I take hip-hop dance classes and am hoping to get back into that swing here in the next month, and I also am pretty involved with my church down in Lawrenceville. I love fashion, but I'm not an airhead about it. I just like to shop and create fun little ensembles, but I pretty much never pay full price for anything, I like the thrift stores. I love eating at new places, and am hoping to begin an intense and strategic exploration of Atlanta here pretty soon. I play the piano, like to write, read and imbibe in a good cup of coffee. I also love volleyball, but it can be a bit heard to find a good team to play on.
It sounds fair to me...you have an extra, empty bedroom, and I'm a hard-working, honest guy who is pretty handy and could probably manage to fix things for ya if that needed taking care of. I can sweep and mop and dust and clean windows and vacuum and rake and garden and scrub toilets and bathtubs and sinks and wash and fold laundry and oh so many household chores. I'm pretty handy, I swear it :)
The way I see it, in exchange for a reasonable amount of chores being completed, I can live in that extra bedroom for free. We'd work out arrangements about common areas and things like that.
I've actually never done this type of situation before, though I've certainly kept a home for myself and know how to keep it clean. I have many phone numbers of people who could vouch for my honesty, trust-worthiness and work-ethic.
Also, as I said, I can cook too. So if that's something you'd be interested in, we could definitely discuss the dynamics of that.
