With the program "Fight Poverty" we call upon all of you who have the same wish to take up the fight against poverty, shoulder to shoulder with the poor, to come forward. Together we can end poverty, one small step at the time. Not to say that it will be easy - on the contrary. The causes of poverty are deeply embedded in many powerful established systems and global structures, which intentionally or unintentionally not only keep a huge part of the world�s population in poverty, but also drive an increasing number of people into poverty.

Description: Free IT Athens is a group of like-minded citizens who realize that computers are a necessary component of everyday life. We believe that everyone deserves access to low-cost computer equipment and computer-related services. Our goal is to provide access to information technology resources to Athens-Clarke County residents and organizations. We also aim to create well informed advocates in free software and open information technology.

We'll take all the help we can get, but we're currently looking for people that can help in any of the following areas:
* Holding Open Hours on Wednesday (6-8 Pm) and Sunday afternoons (1-5)
* Computer Repair/Troubleshooting
* Developing and Teaching computer training classes
* Writing Instrcutional Manuals

Experience in computer repair and computer troubleshooting- as well as experience with Linux- would be helpful, but Free IT Athens will accept any volunteers, regardless of the amount of computer experience they have. There is plenty of work to be done outside of the technical aspects of hardware repair and computer training.

After 20 hours of volunteer work you earn the option of being officially recognized as a member of the Free IT Athens staff. Volunteers also have the option of working towards a free laptop.
