Original family ownership offering – a traditionally classic and vintage (1940’s), large steamer trunk chest with brass accent/locking pieces. The chest has an interior top storage tray. CONDITION OF CHEST & STOR-AGE TRAY: VERY GOOD. The trunk’s exterior finish is a rich, dark brown surrounded by elegant and attractive khaki / tan-colored border/metal trim sections. The trunk’s interior is very clean with no staining or discolorations of the finish. Constructed of solid wood and metal, the trunk chest is an excellent example of the classic 1940’s –1960’s steamer trunk chest used during that golden, ocean-going travel period. The trunk chest’s construction remains tight and sturdy in its original, unal-tered condition. The top lid fits smoothly and snugly into the bottom sec-tion with no warping or misalignment. The top, sides and bottom have no dents or structural damage. The original leather side handles are missing and there is no key for the lock.
Originally purchased in the mid-1940’s by owner’s uncle. He and his wife trav-eled extensively, often to Ireland, England and Europe on the United States Lines’ passenger ships, SS United States, SS America.
