Med Surg 4: Nephrology-Urology

The Nephrology/Urology Unit provides exceptional care for our fellow community members who require Hemodialysis and/or specialized urological care. All nurses hired to our unit will become trained in Peritoneal Dialysis, the only hospital in Athens to provide this service. Our Nurses work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide pient centered care. The Nephrology/Urology Unit is comprised of multiple skill levels with the support of experienced charge nurses and an energetic clinical manager. It is important to have a unit council with all disciplines to assist in making unit- based decisions to give the best pient care possible. Responsibilities:

Coordines the delivery of quality nursing care for pients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operional issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communices pient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the approprie leader(s). Serves as resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

*Pient rios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of pient needs. Extenuing circumstances may determine a need for lower or higher rios*

Qualificions:

Educion

• Gradue from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelors Degree Preferred

Work Experience

• 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting Required
• 2 years or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting Preferred

Licenses and Certificions

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia Ste Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multiste Licensure Required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• Advanced certificion in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
• ACLS Certificion (Cardiac Tele, Critical Care, Surgical Services including Labor and Delivery) Required
• PALS Certificion (Emergency Department) Required
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificion prior to independent chemotherapy administrion (Infusion/Oncology) Required
• NRP by the end of oriention period (Womens Services: Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery) Required
• AWHONN Intermedie Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start de (Labor and Delivery) within 1 Year Required
• PEARS Certificion ( Piedmont Athens Hospital) Required
• PALS if unit provides care to pediric pients (Surgical Services) Required
• ACLS and PALS Certificion (Emergency Department) Required
• ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediric pients (Surgical Services) Required
• Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 30 days to obtain the PALS certificion within 30 Days

• Emergency Department: Additional Required Certificions: ACLS and PALS Certificion - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificions within 6 months of start de) Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 30 days to obtain the PALS certificion. TNCC Certificions required the following hospitals: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificion within 1 year of start de) ENPC Certificions required the following hospitals: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Newton (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificion within 1 year of start de) within 180 Days Required
• Infusion/Oncology: Additional Required Certificions: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificion prior to independent chemotherapy administrion Upon Hire Required
• Pedirics: Identifies, reports and provides approprie protective measures for high risk situions including, but not limited to, abuse or neglect, failure to thrive and potential for abduction. Additional Required Certificions: PALS Certificion (required Piedmont Columbus Hospital) PEARS Certificion (required Piedmont Athens Hospital) within 180 Days Required
• Surgical Services: Additional Required Certificions: PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU/ARU ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediric pients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificions within 6 months of start de) within 180 Days Required
