Used. In very good condition. I bought this through the Fender Mod Shop and converted to a “Jazzblaster” with some extra fun tone options. I routed the body to accept rhythm circuit and larger pickups. Doesn’t look pretty, but you won’t notice when the pickguard is on. Noticeable scratches on the back and one very small hole through the back. See photos. When mounting the ground terminal, I used a screw that was a bit too long and it poked through the back. Mounted it vertically instead. Includes Fender Molded Hard Case.

“This is the same passive tone control that we use in our guitars. It's similar to the Gibson Varitone switch in function. We use a quality 6-position switch that features five frequency settings in addition to true bypass. Our design is vintage correct and a true notch filter. A "two wire" Varitone is not a proper notch filter.
Position 1: True Bypass
Position 2: 1300
Position 3: 750
Position 4: 405
Position 5: 235
Position 6: 90
Matches vintage Gibson notch frequencies within ~0-2%.”
Rhythm circuit replaced with a PTB (passive treble bass) circuit.
- Switch DOWN - PTB OFF, true bypass.
- Switch UP - PTB ON.
I wired it to work just like an HPF/LPF in your DAW.
- LEFT Roller, Bass control - Roll towards the center —> to reduce bass.
- RIGHT Roller, Treble control - Roll towards the center <— to reduce treble. This functions just like a standard tone knob.
- When Bass is all the way <— and Treble is all the way —>, you will not notice any tone loss when switching on or off.
The “Jazzblaster” signal flow is Pickups > 500k Volume > Output. The Varitone and PTB are completely bypassed.
- Rhythm switch down - PTB OFF (true bypass).
- Varitone position 1 - Varitone OFF (true bypass).
