I attempted a DIY defret on this a few years ago and chewed up the fingerboard in the process. The neck is functional but likely needs some TLC (e.g., epoxy + level) or replacement. It has not been played seriously since ~2021.
The bones are good:
- 35” scale keeps the low B string from being "floppy" (a common issue on 34" scale basses).
- Maple neck with carbon fiber reinforcement.
- Ash body
- The Schecter Diamond J-Buckers (passive) allow multiple sounds: the 3-way switches allow for Series (loud/punchy), Split (classic single-coil), and Parallel (hi-fi/bright).
- Master Vol, Master Tone, 3-Way Pickup Select, and two 3-way Series/Split/Parallel switches.
