Blast from the past!! For sale is a used Silvertone Bobcat Electric Guitar modded with a rubber bridge in a gloss Black Sunburst finish. This guitar is loaded with coolness! Its a Silvertone Model 1477 by Harmony made for Sears with Silver Foil pickups. The guitar was put together in 1966 as seen by the date stamp from Rowe Manufacturing on the inside pickguard. Made in the US.
This was one of the most popular solid-body guitars that Sears sold, feeding off the Beatles-fueled rock and roll mania of the times. It was a great little guitar, with just what you wanted in a starter axe. Two "foil" DeArmond pickups, straightforward controls, and a "fancy contoured body" with fluted knobs and six by strip tuners. Bolt-on maple neck with ebonized maple fretboard, dot inlays, and headstock truss rod adjustment. 3-way toggle switch and volume/tone controls for each pickup.
Solid body
20 frets
24" scale length
For a unique sound, a waterslide rubber bridge with wooden base ($95 value) was used to replace the original floating wood bridge, which is also included. Sounds nice and thud-tastic and you can dial the intonation, which is a nice bonus compared with having a straight rubber bridge. See YouTube Video: "Why Use a Rubber Bridge On Your Guitar?"

This guitar is in overall good condition, especially considering its 60 years old, but it does have some signs of player use. Some exposed wood on the edges of the headstock and relic'd finish on the back of the neck. There are a few small dings and light scratches. The bridge and pickup covers are clean with no pitting. Electronics function as they should. Tiny piece of the pickguard was chipped away to fit the base of wood bridge. See photos. Please view the pictures carefully and consider them part of the description.
Note: Guitar is original except for the strings. While a rubber bridge was added, I include the original wood bridge in case you want to switch back to its original sound. I also put a vintage white truss rod cover on the guitar, but will include the black one shown in the photos. Strings are flatwounds to enhance the rubber bridge sound.
Own a bit of guitar history while diversifying your guitar sounds and recording options with a unique muted sound. More than just a wall hanger, this guitar would make a unique addition to any guitar collection. Low ball offers will be ignored.
Includes guitar, original wood bridge and old chipboard black case (with lots of music related stickers) ONLY, No stand.
Note: I will be selling this item along with several other guitars and amps sometime soon at J&J Flea Market, 11661 Commerce Rd, Athens, Georgia. 30607. If a serious buyer, I will also consider a private sale or POSSIBLE TRADE within Athens, only.
