Along the stretch of 85N between Georgia exit 160 and into South Carolina there is a high number of bodies of cats, kittens, and what looked like maybe a guinea pig on both shoulders and on the road. A few directly under bridges as if they had been dropped into the highway from the overpass.
The first I noticed was a recently deceased white and grey tabby kitten which, given the tumbled trail of blood leading to it, looked as if it had been thrown from the passenger side of a car.
The stretch mentioned had the highest number of these corpses though there were more here and there all the way through North Carolina. It seems they are killed on the road or perhaps killed elsewhere then discarded on the highway. I don't know how to report this.
If you are giving away a pet, ask for ID or even do a background check. This is the sign of a potential murderer. Very scary. Be careful out there.
