I’m a 31-year-old male professional in Athens looking for a believing roommate to join the lease on this 2BD/2BA apartment on the Eastside beginning late July/early August (although I may be able to have you move in earlier if needed). I’ve lived in Athens 8 years, and my roommate of 2 years is moving to Atlanta to pursue other endeavors. I’ve lived in this apartment for 4 years and have loved it.

About Me

The most important thing about me is that I love Christ, in thanksgiving for Him calling me, saving me, and bringing me into the church and preparing me for eternal life by the Spirit. I have been a Christian for 6 years. I am seeking a roommate who knows he has been saved, and who is eager to walk in Christ and enjoys the fellowship of fellow Christians.

Currently I work as a manager at a local thrift store, and I am also in school to become an acupuncturist. My schooling has me away from Athens for one week of each month for the next 3 years. I also work Saturdays and I have Sundays and Mondays off. Another important thing about me with respect to the apartment is that I cook nearly all my own meals from scratch. I enjoy cooking and find it an incredibly useful tool for my health, hospitality, and budgeting. I will happily form a cooking schedule to make sure we both have enough time to use the kitchen during the week. Finally, I view the apartment as a provision for ministry by having people over for meals and fellowship. I host people over maybe once/week ranging from an individual to a small group of 8-10. I also love to run and train my body.

What I am looking for in a roommate

I want you to be happy with living here. I am hoping and praying for someone who can appreciate the aspects of my life I have highlighted above and can join me in them to a degree. I understand you will have your own responsibilities and life to lead, as the Lord leads you. I hope to be a roommate that supports you, adding to your joy in Christ. Girlfriends staying the night, neglecting local Christian fellowship, neglecting your own time pursuing the Lord, or failing to communicate your needs are things (or general cattiness) that would eventually present problems in our relationship. Things you could be open to that would really bode well for our relationship could be discipleship, honesty, being quick to confess missteps, and a heart that loves the Lord. I have it my aim to keep pursuing the Lord in these areas as well.

Apartment

Bedrooms/Bathrooms: The room that’s available is the “Master” bedroom/private bathroom suite. Both bedrooms are adjacent to Barnett Shoals Rd. I haven’t had issues with the noise from the traffic, but it could be something to get used to if you’re a light sleeper.
Living Room: The shared living room/dining room space is cozy, only a few feet longer than the bedroom that’s available, but it currently fits a couch, loveseat, TV stand, and a home office I am using for school, but I am happy to move that back into my bedroom.
Kitchen & Dining Room: Comes with all stainless-steel functioning appliances. Cabinets and countertops are in great shape and have been more than adequate for our needs, and the pantry is a big plus. We currently have a six-seater table in the dining area that’s manageable.
Porch: We’re on the 2nd floor and have a small porch (13’ x 10’) that stays shaded through most of the day. I have a trash barrel compost system for kitchen scraps that is clean (relatively) and free of pests.
Appliances: Washer, Dryer, Refrigerator, Microwave, and ready for cable hookup.
Utility Costs: We are averaging $200/month in utility costs between electric, water, and internet.

The Area

For groceries, you can walk to Publix and Aldi, and Kroger. A Jittery Joe’s, a pharmacy, and Barberitos are within walking distance, and many more Eastside destinations are close by. The bus picks up right across the street from us, and I used it all the time to get to UGA and downtown when I worked for UGA. Down the road there’s a nice walking trail at the WYCO fields, and you can walk down to the unofficial mountain bike trail that surrounds Athens and from there it’s only little further to the greenway.

To reach out to me

In your reply please include a little bit about yourself that demonstrates you've read the posting. If you do not show that you meet the profile described in this posting, I will probably not reply to you. If you have references like a past roommate, or a mentor in the church, please feel free to include that as well. I would love to first set up a phone call to introduce myself to you, and if we agree that went well, we could look at having you visit the apartment/do a virtual tour.
