Looking to sell my converted school bus "tiny house" with complete solar setup. It's a great ~250sq ft space that is modern, unique and encourages environmentally-friendly living.

The bus is a 1997 Thomas Built International diesel, retired from a school system and routinely maintained up until 2016. It has around 117k miles and drove to it's current location. It has not moved for about 7 months.

The inside of the bus is all hand-crafted and has a queen size bed with storage underneath, closet, shelving, energy-efficient lighting and plenty of AC power outlets to take advantage of the solar grid mounted on top of the bus. It comes equipped with a wood burning stove for heat and 4-season living. The windows that are exposed are screened in. The wall of windows on both sides provides an awesome view into the surrounding nature. The roof has a pop-up access door and vent that is perfect for letting in natural light and getting up on the roof to hang out.

The hand-made kitchen is a butcher block counter on top of pine cabinets. The water for the sink is drawn from a container with a hand pump. It can be switched out to a gravity fed system if the tank is placed above the sink for "on-demand" water.

Currently there is no shower, but there is space for a shower in the bathroom if one desired to install one. Our current setup is to shower in the nearby house, or visit the local gym for a shower. In the future we wanted to build an outdoor shower, which would be perfect for the warm to hot Georgia climate.

The current toilet is a basic plumbing solution that campers and those who've lived off-grid will be familiar with. It's a simple toilet seat over a 5-gallon plastic bucket, filled with a layer of cedar wood chips. There's no smell if the poo is covered with a scoop of fresh chips, but you will need to deal with the contents when the bucket is getting full. We have a humanure area on our wooded property that naturally returns this organic material to the soil. It's a beautifully simple process and a point of pride that you can manage your own poo, unlike the rest of society...! This solution can be switched out for a composting or incineration toilet, or an outhouse or central bathroom can be used on a property.

The back door of the bus is leads to the solar battery array and storage of toys and can easily fit a few bikes.

The front driver area is separated from the living space by a real wall.

If you think tiny house living is for you, this could be a great, convenient and relatively inexpensive option, compared to other tiny houses in the 40-80k range. Makes sense for student living as well, as paying rent for your own apartment adds up quickly.

The biggest challenge for bus living is finding a spot for the bus, so I encourage you to look for your space first: ask friends, family, farmers -- anyone with an interest in tiny-house off-grid living and an acre + of land, ideally with a view into serene nature. Use this as an opportunity to start the conversation on minimalism and environmentalism with your group of friends. Help start the movement of breaking separation between "us and them", human and wild. :P

The dimensions around 38 ft long, 8 ft wide, 10 ft high, and it weighs in at around 30,000 lbs (great lifting practice if you're an IronMan)

You will need a commercial drivers license to legally drive the bus in Georgia. We hired one to move the bus for us, and anyone who drives trucks or school busses would likely be able to help as a favor or a little cash incentive.

Reason for listing for sale is we are looking to sell our house that has the bus on the property. Alternatively the bus may sell with the property, or we may move it to a new piece of land. Currently titled in Athens-Clarke County as an RV. All offers considered.

Located right inside of the Athens / Jefferson border off of highway 129. Contact for more details and showings.
